FAQ
Why virtual consultations?
How many times have you been so tired after a work day that you decided you would rather just cancel an appointment than get back in the car and go? We are all guilty of this. At the end of a long day, nutrition counseling may feel like the last thing on your to-do list, but it is likely the most important, as your health is always first priority.
For most clients, the solution to this problem is to bring our sessions into the comfort of your home, into your office on your lunch break, or even while out of town.
There is no longer any reason to put your health on hold. Your sessions will be something that you will look forward to as we help you achieve your health and wellness goals from the comfort of your own home.
How many sessions will I need?
Number of sessions are based on an individual basis. This may depend on what your goals are, how you are progressing and how much maintenance and support you may need.
Can I use my insurance benefits?
We are in-network providers with most major insurance companies. You can verify your coverage by calling the number on the back of your insurance card. Ask the representative the following questions:
- What are my benefits for nutrition counseling? You may need to provide them with certain codes: 97802 (initial visit), 97803 (follow-up visits).
- Is there a limited number of visits?
- Does it matter why I’m going? Some plans have restrictions on coverage for certain diagnoses.
What is a Registered Dietitian?
An RD or and RDN (Registered Dietitian Nutritionist) has obtained a degree from an accredited college, completed 1600 hours of supervised practice, and passed a nationally recognized board exam. We are then held to the standards of the board which requires 75 hours of continuing education annually. Most states, including Florida, will only issue a license to Registered Dietitians.
Can you make a meal plan for me to follow?
First and foremost, I will teach you how to combine foods together in a way that you will feel more energized, full and satisfied. You will learn how to create balanced meals and snacks to keep you going all day. I will never ask you to give up your favorite foods, or insist that you should eat foods you don’t like. There are plenty of great food options in the world for all of us to enjoy a nutritious lifestyle. After you have learned to create balanced meals, you may still decide you think it would be helpful to have a plan to follow. At that time, if we decide together that a meal plan is appropriate for you, then I will create one for you.
